Paul was born, the oldest of 4 boys, on September 7, 1959, to Don and Connie Borys in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He spent his first 18 years in Garden City, went on to college for 2 years, then began his 38 year career in the family business Border Glass & Aluminum which taught him many valuable things and afforded him an early and comfortable retirement in 2016. In 1980 Paul relocated to Saskatchewan where he met and married his wife of 42 years, Norine (Affleck). Over the next many years, they lived in Saskatoon, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, and Gatineau, QC, growing their family of 4 and establishing lasting friendships in each location. In 2008 they moved to Gilbert, AZ where they were residing when Paul passed away after a heroic 19 month battle with pancreas cancer.
Left to grieve his absence are his wife Norine of Gilbert, AZ; daughter Melissa and husband Myles O’Regan and son Jamieson of Winnipeg, MB; son Jefferson and wife Amy, of St Paul, MN; son Benjamin of Mesa, AZ; and 3 very dear grandchildren, Archie, Ramona and Frederick of St Paul, MN. Paul is also survived by his parents, Don and Connie Borys, brothers David (Kathy), Stephen (Hazel), and Tim (Shelly) all of Winnipeg, MB; and many nieces and nephews for whom Uncle Paul figured large, as well as uncles, aunts, cousins and inlaws. Paul is preceded in death by his four grandparents, among whom was Vera LeVasseur, whose life and choices has had eternal impact on Paul and the Borys family.
Paul made his choice to serve God as a boy of 9, and remained true to that purpose all his life, finding even deeper joy and satisfaction in that choice in the last years of his life. Above the many and varied interests Paul pursued throughout his life, none was greater than the investment he made in people. Everyone was worth getting to know, young or old. Strangers were just friends he hadn’t yet met and every good day or activity was improved by sharing it with others. In all of his day to day efforts, foremost was his concern for the needs of his family and friends. He was our #1 cheerleader and was happily unobservant of the faults of his loved ones; he was quick both to forgive and to apologize. Many is the child who wished Paul was their dad. We will all miss him deeply the rest of our days.
