At age 7, Pete’s family moved to Colorado. He was a 1968 graduate of Arapahoe High in Littleton.
Following school, Pete began a career as a CNA in a Senior Living facility. He became certified as a CNA in 1970 and spent many years in the field.
Later Pete joined his father's business, Industrial Insurance Inc. in Commerce City, Co. He enjoyed working there over 25 years.
Throughout his life, Pete always found ways to further his education and pursue new interests. He was a steady, lifelong student of the world around him. He continued his education at the University of Colorado Denver and proudly received his B.A. in Anthropology in 1995.
After his step-father passed away, Pete moved in full time to be with his mother, to help assist her and keep her company until her passing in 2018.
Everyone who knew Pete knew of his kindness and compassion; these were a big part of who he was, expressed quietly and consistently in the way he cared for others and showed up for family.
Pete had many interests, especially his love of Colorado and its beauty. He loved the mountains and he love the snow. He had a passion for cycling, gardening, photography, reading, history, current events and learning in general. Pete had a very creative side. He would design, build and help his mom decorate inside and out for all the holidays.
In March of 2024, Pete’s family chose to move him to Arizona to be closer to them, so they could help care for him. He missed Colorado, mountains and cool climate terribly. And would tell everyone!
Pete is preceded in passing by his father Frank Bucher, mother Jean Barker and step-father Ronald E. Barker. He is survived by his sister Diane (Roy) Lain, step-mother Karen (Billy) Bucher-Kineer, nephew Martin (Breighann) Lain and their two children.
Pete’s ashes will be laid to rest privately at Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery in Centennial, Colorado at a later date.
