Peter William Fitzgerald, 54, passed away peacefully in his home on March 18, in Mesa, AZ with his beloved wife, Trish, at his side. Pete was a gentle, generous, and compassionate, Christian man. He was an ASU graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and was a loyal employee of Procter and Gamble for 23 years. Pete was a member of Mensa and an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed baseball, camping, fishing, a round of golf after work with his buddies, but his favorite thing to do was to spend evenings in his backyard with his wife, Trish, listening to music and grilling. He had a passion for BBQ and was on a quest to perfect the brisket.
Pete was preceded in death by his father, William John Fitzgerald, and stepdaughter, Melanie Marie Boyle. A devoted family man, Peter is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Patricia, his mother, with whom he held a special bond, Ellen Isabel Carstens Fitzgerald, sister, Jill Fitzgerald, both of Prescott, AZ, and niece, Lindsay Hoge of Watertown, South Dakota. He will be greatly missed by them, and all of his family and friends who held him in high regard. Pete was a loving example of strength, generosity, and humility to his stepchildren whom he regarded as his own children, Fatima Jaafari of Huntington Beach, California, Joseph Jaafari of New York City, Matthew Boyle of Stansbury Park, Utah, and Bryan Gilmore of New Orleans, Louisiana. Peter had six granddaughters. A memorial barbecue will be held at a later date to be announced.
