
Quentin ‘Curly’ Hennenfent June 25, 1924 - August 18, 2011 Quentin 'Curly' Hennenfent, 87, Mesa, AZ died Thursday, August 18, 2011 in a Mesa hospital. Quentin was born June 25, 1924 in Foxhome, MN to Nicholas and Adeline (Allex) Hennenfent. Quentin joined the United States Navy in November 1941, at the age of 17, serving aboard the USS Sirius during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific, American Theatre. His first destination was Pearl Harbor. He was honorably discharged in 1945. On December 26, 1946 Quentin Married Lorraine (Moger) in Minot. He graduated from Minot State Teachers College where he earned a Certificate of Teaching and Business Degree in 1950. He worked for Sebby's in Minot and was with Minot Federal Savings and Loan for 30 years before retiring in 1988. Volunteering was an important part of Quentin's life. He coached his sons’ baseball teams all through Pee Wee, Midget and Pony League. He was a member his church board for many years. He served on the Minot Park District Board for 16 years, was a member of the Sertoma club for over 30 years, V.F.W., American Legion, Chamber of Commerce and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. When he retired and moved to Phoenix in 1987, Quentin immediately volunteered to be on the Board of his neighborhood in Leisure World. Up until this past winter, he drove the cart to take people to and from their cars at his local hospital every Tuesday morning– even in the 110 degree Phoenix summers. One of the highlights of Quentin's life was participating in the WWII Honor Flight to Washington DC. He was very proud of his country and was deeply honored to serve. Quentin had a great love of family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a loving, caring husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend. The kindness he brought to lives every day will be missed by all. Surviving family includes: two sons, Brian (Toni), Minot; Mark (Susan), San Diego; daughter-in-law, Carleen Hennenfent, Bismarck; son-in-law, Ken Keller, Minot; brother, Doug (Arlene), Bremerton, Washington; step-father Byron Haley, step-sister, Lois White, Minot. Grandchildren, Heather (Jeremy) Ackerman, Dawn (Marlon) Samuel, Nick Hennenfent, Carrie Horton; Great-grandchildren Paige and Jillian Ackerman. Several cousins, nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren.
Quentin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine; daughter, Michelle; son, Gregory; brother Cyril ‘Blackie’; aunt and uncle, Francis ‘Fritzie’ & Harold Ruckman. Memorial Service: Friday, September 2, 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Minot. Visitation: Friends are invited to join the family following the service in the church fellowship hall.
