Richard K. Hinkle, affectionately known as Rich, passed away on March 16, 2024, at the age of 63. Born on April 13, 1960, in Fairfield, Iowa, Rich was the cherished son of Richard and Marilyn Hinkle. Growing up in Fairfield, Rich carried with him strong Midwest values, a fierce work ethic, and a spirit of adventure that would shape the course of his remarkable life.
Throughout his life, Rich embraced a variety of careers and passions, each chapter adding depth to his story. He began as the proud owner of an auto body shop in Iowa, where he demonstrated his knack for mechanics and a dedication to honest work. Later, he embarked on a daring journey as a commercial diver in the Gulf, a career that introduced him to an unexpected love for medicine. This newfound passion led Rich to earn a degree from Case Western University's prestigious Physician Assistant program. After graduating, he made Arizona his home, where he practiced as a compassionate and skilled PA for over 30 years, leaving a lasting impact on both his patients and colleagues.
Rich's love for the outdoors was ever-present. He found joy on the golf course, peace on hiking trails, and thrill in the woods while hunting with his brothers. He shared many precious moments fishing with his three sons, Cody, Jordan, and Colton, instilling in them his love for nature and respect for life's simple pleasures. At the age of 45, Rich embraced yet another passion—learning to play the guitar—which deepened his lifelong love of music. Together with his wife of 28 years, Kim, he attended countless concerts, creating memories that would fill their hearts for years to come.
Rich was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a beloved grandfather to four grandchildren: Cali, Mason, Grayson, and Jameson. His warmth and humor will be forever missed by his family, including his two older sisters, Brenda and Sandy, and his two younger brothers, Chris and Kurt.
A celebration of Rich's life will be held on November 22, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Mariposa Gardens in Mesa, AZ. His family invites all who knew him to join them in honoring the life of a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and inspired those around him to do the same.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice, celebrating Rich’s legacy of care and compassion.
