Bob, as he preferred to be called, was admired by both friends and family for his congenial and outgoing nature; his ready smile; and positive outlook on life. A life-long friend recently wrote, upon learning of Bob's passing, the following: "Bob exemplified life's simple lessons of living his faith in God, and sharing friendship with his fellow life travelers. Bob was a fine athlete, a true friend and above all, a gentleman." Bob was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he loved doing Temple work and participating in community service projects.
Bob was born November 19, 1943 in Bismarck, North Dakota to loving parents George, Sr. and Vi Cram. He was the 7th of 8 children. Golf was very important to the Cram family and Bob took to the sport with enthusiasm and developed considerable skill. He and many of his brothers spent their summers playing as many as 54 holes of golf a day at Tom O'Leary's Public Golf Course in Bismarck.
Bob lettered in golf both at Bismarck High School, and at North Dakota State University where he graduated in 1965 with a degree in Business Economics. Not long after his graduation, Bob decided to move to a place where he could play golf year-round. His choice was to come to Arizona which is where he met his future wife, Nancy Lynne Creasman, while working as an assistant golf professional at White Mountain Country Club in Pinetop, Arizona. They married in 1970, two years after their first meeting,
Bob was one of the "lucky ones." He was able to convert his passion for golf into a career as he continued employment in the golf industry throughout his years of work.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, George, Sr. & Vi Cram of Bismarck, ND. He was also predeceased by his brothers Lyle Cram of Dumfries, VA; Donald Cram of Florida; Mark Cram of Mesa, AZ. Also his sister Janice Fields of Dickinson, ND. He is survived by brothers George Cram, Jr. (Jan) of L'Anse, MI; Gerald Cram (Charlene) of Rio Verde, AZ; and David Cram of Mesa, AZ.
Bob is also survived by his loving wife, Nancy; and his step-children Joshua Fraughton (Brittnee) of Mesa, AZ; Michael Udall (Brianna) of Denver, CO; Katherine Goff and Tracy Pawlak, both of Mesa, AZ. He sadly leaves behind 6 step-grandchildren: Alivia, Bradley, Thomas, Rhylie, Angel, and Aaron, whom he loved dearly.
A Service for Bob will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 10725 E Point Twenty-Two Blvd, Mesa, AZ 85212. Following church service will be a committal service at Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, 4310 East Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85042.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1800-227-2345.
