Robert (Bob) George Hops Sr. of Mesa, AZ passed away November 28, 2018 at the age of 75. Bob was a resident of Mesa since 1979. He was born in Huntington, NY on July 6, 1943 to John Henry and Anna Clara [Foisset] Hops. Bob grew up on Long Island and graduated from North Babylon High School in 1961. After high school, Bob joined the US Navy and served for two years onboard the USS Okinawa during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Bob then served an additional two years in the Navy Reserve; Honorably Discharged in 1965. Shortly after his service in the Navy, Bob met the love of his life, Carole. The two were later married and raised three sons, Robert, Michael and Jason. Bob attended trade school through the local plumbers union in New York and worked his entire career as a steam fitter and plumber. He had a love for old classic cars and enjoyed many hours working on them. He was one of the founders and a longtime member of the Long Island Street Rod Club, and then a member of the Arizona Street Rod Association. He was also a 33rd degree Mason and Shriner and was part of the Shriner’s clown unit. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna, son Erik and his beloved wife, Carole Ann Hops. He is survived by his sons, Robert George (Patricia) Hops Jr, Michael (Kathy) Hops and Jason (Kara) Hops as well as seven grandchildren; Blake, Jacob, Matthew, Cameron, Natalie, Christine and Jenna.
