Robert “Bob” “Bobby” Kiefer, formerly of Marinette, WI, passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2022 in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 69. He was born in Menominee, MI on August 16, 1952 to Joseph and Edna (Nowack) Kiefer. Bob graduated from Marinette Catholic Central in Marinette, WI in 1971. He attended UW-Marinette and graduated from the University of Whitewater in May 1974 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. During his high school and college days, Bob would work with his father in the paint department at Laureman's Department Store in Marinette. Bob started his career with Kmart (SS Kresege) in Oak Brook, IL on May 27, 1974. During his management training program, he spent 60 months traveling and was responsible for the physical layout and setup of new Kmart's. In 1980 Bob's first store management position was a SS Kresege's store in Mason, City IA. He ended his 38 year career retiring from Kmart in Menominee, MI on 6/28/2013. He was proud of his longevity with the company. During his tenure with Kmart, he met, dated, and then married the love of his life, Eva (Konkel) on September 3, 1983. After Bob's retirement, they bought a home and moved to Mesa, AZ to enjoy the warm sunny weather.
Bob was an avid music lover (favorite Jimi Hendrix) and sports fan. He followed college sports and, of course, was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan. As season ticket holders, Bob and Eva would fly back for games. Through the years, he and Eva enjoyed traveling, especially National Parks, seeing live bands, attending music festivals, antiquing, antique car shows, golfing with his family, going to the lake with family and friends and the yearly Gold Rush Antique Market in MN. He also maintained a life long interest in his home town of Marinette. One of his favorite hobbies was finding collectibles reflecting that area including postcards and Silver Cream Brewery memorabilia.
Bob was a loyal and kind friend to all. He enjoyed helping others with projects they could no longer navigate on their own, and was always available to help with transportation to appointments. During his retirement he also had a part time job as a handyman. He loved to paint and keep busy. Bob loved the Valley of the Sun weather in Arizona and working outside in the sunshine. It was never “too warm” for Bobby. And he was always ready to try a new microbrewery!!
Bob is survived by his wife Eva, of Mesa, AZ, and their 2 dogs Bennie and Bosch; two siblings, Jim (Mesa,AZ) and Sue (Al) Ewaldt, Marinette,WI. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edna Kiefer and his brother Richard (Dick) Kiefer.
