Robert William Krause, Sr.

Robert “Bob” William Krause, Sr. , after a long and complete life, went to be with Christ at the age of 90 on Saturday, July 18 th , in Mesa, Arizona. His life was full of family, serving his nation in the USAF and Pentagon, serving God in song and teaching Scripture, traveling, and sports.

Bob first began singing at the age of 14 in a barbershop quartet, The Quarter Notes, at East

Detroit High School where he went on to letter in football, baseball, band, and track. He started his first job working at his dad’s tool & die business at the age of 16. After high school, he briefly trained with the Detroit Lions “Red Shirt Squad,” scrimmaging with the Lions in preparation for the season, before enlisting in the Michigan Air National Guard and was dispatched to Cheyenne, Wyoming for basic training. He first fell in love with Arizona in 1955 when training on aircraft at Williams Air Force Base, and later, during the Bay of Pigs crisis, was activated for a time at Luke Air Force Base. He was married and began raising a family in Michigan before permanently moving his family to Phoenix, Arizona in 1971.

Bob loved singing! Following his first quartet in high school, he sang Gospel music in his church quartet in addition to singing in church choirs. He loved sports, especially baseball and football. He was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions, and in Arizona was a faithful follower of the Diamondbacks and Cardinals. His last day on this earth was spent at Chase Field watching the Diamondbacks win, binoculars in hand, reacting with every pitch, hit, and play. He loved traveling beginning with his family in an RV, and after retiring from the Air National Guard and business management, he and his wife Faye traveled throughout the United States in their 5th wheel and love to cruise with friends and family around the world.

Bob’s love for life and his determination and perseverance, as well as God’s amazing grace, was evident in Bob’s life as he survived several life-threatening events starting with being healed from Bulbar Polia at the age of 5, rheumatic fever as a young man, and a near fatal car crash in 1963 when he was catapulted through the windshield of his ’63 Oldsmobile. He survived a dangerous mission in Korea, was hit by multiple cars on his motorcycle in Phoenix, and in 2016, at the age of 80, was diagnosed with and overcame head and neck cancer.

Bob is survived by his wife, Faye, his brother Roger (Renee), his four children Bob (Tammi),

Sherri (Allen), Mark (Tamara), and Beth (Chuck). He had five grandsons (Michael, Austin, Andrew, Jordan, and Jonathan), and five great grandchildren.

A CELEBRATION OF BOB’S LIFE will begin with visitation at 9:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026 at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 S. Dobson Road, Mesa, AZ. He will receive military honors and be buried at the National Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona.
