To Lin,
I am so sorry for your loss. Ron was a wonderful man whom I will never forget. He had such a kind and caring heart. I so appreciated the time I spent with you both when Paul and I were in Arizona for my dads heart surgery. You opened your home to us and were so giving and thoughtful. I will always remember the evening we went out for dinner for my birthday to Olive Garden. You got the big bald guy to sing Happy Birthday to me. I remember how scared I was of him at first because he looked like a bouncer. His voice was amazing and you two really got a kick out of my face when he sang. He blew me away.I just wish I could have had more time with you and Ron. I hope with every day the pain will ease and you will find peace knowing he is in a better place.

I can only imagine what it is like to lose your brother. I don't know what I would do without Paul. My heart aches for all of you. I pray that your memories help you through this painful time. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I send my love,

Ron, I wish I had seen you more often over the last few years, but I will never forget the time you gave to my boys and me. Every outing we had with you was fun, and even though we didn't get to see each other as much as we all wanted to, I will treasure those memories. The boys and I will keep your memory alive in our own ways as we do your beloved son Scott. Thank you also for the gift of Scott. I know that you were never the same after losing him, but what a brave and gentle soul you were. I started missing you a few years ago, but I am thankful for our last phone call. Even though I didn't know it then, it was exactly the closure I needed for now as I was not allowed the opportunity to say goodbye. Even though the boys have not seen you in 3 years, they never did forget you and they are very sad that you're gone. Thank you for treating me like a daughter, for spending time with the boys and I, for telling me repeatedly that you were happy for me "starting over" and for coming to my graduation party from nursing school. I have learned from losing Scott that yes, you can be "ok", you can move on, but with those you love, you are never over them. I will never be "over" Scott and I will never be "over" you as my kids Papa Ron and as a father figure to me. I loved you as much as I love my own dad, and I know you loved me too. I will miss your phone calls saying "hey this is the old guy!". I am comforted knowing you are with your son in Heaven. You were a good man and I am blessed to have known you.

 To my older and only brother . . . my favorite one!!  Since there were 10 years between us we didn't have a lot in common until our adult years.  I was only 11 years old (Lois was 9) when you first got married and moved out of the house.  It was a good move for me because I finally got my own bedroom!  Until then, Lois and I had had to share a room. 
 I have some fond memories of our early years together.  I especially remember when I had to teach you some dance moves before your first date (your Senior Prom)! Hard to believe you didn't have a real date until your Prom! Since I was an avid fan of American Bandstand, I remember "dancing" with you in our big old dining room!  Like Lois, I also remember having to anticipate when a commercial break was approaching on TV because we needed to quickly move out of your reach if we didn't want to be put in a head lock or have our pigtails pulled!  WE were YOUR entertainment during commercials!  I also remember your friends coming over to play basketball in our backyard.  You were an avid player and were on the Marshall High School team.
 As we entered our adult years, we had a lot of fun with you when you were in town!  My kids and Tom always enjoyed your visits, too!  We would spend family time together with Lois and Paul (and sometimes our kids) just hanging out, visiting and laughing over childhood stories.  The guys always loved an opportunity to try to beat you in a game of golf (especially Ryan).  Lois touched on all of those things that were the essence of you and our relationship . . . sports teams,
treats, Amaretto, Christmas cookies, and GOLF!  What fun we had!  
 You were also a good son that made annual trips to spend time with your parents when their health was failing.  You were always their special "Sonny Boy!"
I am grateful that we became closer as we aged because you were easier to love once I got rid of my ponytails!  You will be remembered as a dear man, son, brother, dad, and husband!  I am thankful that your suffering is over!  You were so courageous in your battle with Melanoma!  You will be forever in my heart and a bright spot in my memories!  Lovingly, Nancy

To my loving brother who I will dearly miss….just a few thoughts to reminisce.

A brother who…

pulled my pigtails as a little girl.

pestered my sister and I constantly while we watched TV.

loved to golf every weekend at Gross Golf Course.

escaped the cold and stresses of MN for the warm weather and year round golfing of AZ.

never again came to visit during a MN winter except to lay his father to rest.

loved sports and rooted for all the MN teams, AZ teams and the Seattle teams with his wife.

liked to play basketball and catch with my boys in the front yard when he came to visit.

loved my lemon poppy seed cake and never understood what a single serving of it was.

loved my vanilla crinkle cookies, ate them by the handful and chuckled like a little boy who had gotten  away with something.

couldn't wait for his wreath spritz cookies to arrive every Christmas that my sister and I baked  just for him.  Always requesting we drop the box before shipping because Lin would only allow him to eat the broken ones upon arrival.

turned me on to Disaronno Amaretto and what an Italian Margarita was.  Cheers to you bro!

visited once a year to see his ageing mother and would love taking her to play bingo.  Something he enjoyed too!
loved a night out at the casino for a little fun playing video poker (or bingo).

had a gracious heart and was very sentimental like me.

You will be forever in my heart and I'm so thankful that your suffering is over.  Peace to you.  

To my favorite brother….from your favorite sister Lois.  (A standing family joke.)

Dad, I miss you so much but I know you are in a much better place and not suffering anymore with terrible cancer.  I can picture it now, you are having a drink or two with Grandpa and Scott with his Buds while Grandma is cooking her famous goulash and I know dad you must be eating all her spritz cookies by now!  I love you soooo much Dad!!!  Rest in peace and I will see you all again in heaven.  Love you, Kari
