Roosevelt Anthony Jenkins Jr., a loving son, father, grandfather, brother and uncle was born on September 25, 1944 to Regina and the late Roosevelt Anthony Jenkins Sr. in Los Angeles, California. Roosevelt was more commonly known as Jr., Dad, Papa Ro, RoGo or just plain Rowe.
He graduated from Gardena High School in 1963. He attended Los Angeles City College where he studied Industrial Arts. While in Los Angeles, he loved his work as an Aerospace Mechanic and for several years worked for both McDonnell Douglas and Boeing. It was the love for his mother that caused him to relocate to Arizona to be close to her.
When walking into Roosevelt’s home, you were greeted by a wall of distinction. On one side were pictures of life changers, such as, Mohammed Ali, Malcolm X., Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and President Barack Obama. In close proximity were framed photos of every member of his family. This wall showed what mattered most to Roosevelt.
He loved to be surrounded by his family and friends. He was always the one laughing, joking and considered the “Life of the Party.” His hobbies included collecting clocks and rare coins. A sports enthusiast, Roosevelt enjoyed the Lakers and was a huge Muhammad Ali and boxing fan.
Roosevelt is preceded in death by his father Roosevelt A. Jenkins Sr. and his sister Joan M. Jenkins.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his best friend and mother Regina M. Pierce of Mesa, AZ; his loving children: Tanya R. Bruce (Mark W. Bruce-spouse) of San Tan Valley, AZ; Tichelle M.
