Sara A Edgar, age 77, passed away at her winter home on March 3, 2026, in Mesa, Arizona. A beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, Sara’s life was defined by her kindness, her creativity, and her love for life’s simple joys.
Born on February 28, 1949, in Cross Plains, Tennessee, to the late Hubert and Virgie Jernigan, Sara carried the warmth of her Southern roots with her throughout her life. She moved to Indiana at one year old, where she grew up and met her future husband Rick. They married and she built a dedicated career, first serving as a key punch operator for UTC, and later working and eventually retiring from Zimmer in Warsaw.
Sara was a woman of many passions. She found great joy in the quiet focus of crafting, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her artistic spirit. She was equally at home in nature, spending many happy days camping under the stars, and she cherished the energy and excitement of attending live concerts with those she loved.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Rick Edgar; her son, Travis Edgar; and her brother, Donald (Donnie) Jernigan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Vergie Jernigan, and her brothers, Wayne Jernigan, Kenneth (Kenny) Jernigan, and William (Willie) Jernigan.
Sara’s legacy of love and her vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
