

Sarah graduated from Glendale Union High School in Glendale, Arizona and worked as an accounting assistant for the University of Phoenix for many years. She was extraordinarily crafty, with a passion for painting, sewing and beading jewelry. Sarah also enjoyed holistic health practices like therapeutic massage and treatments. She came from a large family of 16 kids. They were extremely hardworking migrant farm workers who were known in Nebraska along with harvesting crops throughout the Midwest and Southwest. She was a beautiful, kind, loving, and strong willed mother. She taught her children to be strong and pick up ourselves in the face of adversity. She loved them all very, very much and we will miss her. Our mother was a spiritual woman who believed in Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ and the promise of life everlasting here on earth.
Sarah is preceded in death by her sons Manuel and Rudy Martinez, parents Bartolo and Santos Martinez, siblings Elizabeth Hansen, Mary Martinez, "David" Bart Martinez . She is survived by her daughters Nancy M. Tomerlin and husband John; Sharon M. Waters and husband Joe; Cindy M. Acedo and husband Steve Sanford; Frances Martinez; and Lisa Jacobs Martinez; her grandchildren Justin Tomerlin; Joshua Tomerlin; John Phillip Tomerlin; Gena Tomerlin; Manuel Martinez; Davi Martinez; Melanie Martinez; Sherry Robinson; Michael Cruz; Richard Cruz; Erin Martinez; Gloria Martinez; Rudi Martinez; Marcos Martinez; Sarah Speight; Alicia Acedo; Sammi Martinez; and 29 Great Grand Children. Surviving siblings are Ruth Garcia, Anna Blendu, Esther Martinez, Eva Martinez, Frank Martinez, Charles Martinez, Charlotte Rome, Susan Martinez, Jesse Martinez, Larry Martinez, Helen Renteria, Maxine Orozco.
Services will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 10050 E. University Drive, Mesa, Arizona 85207 on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 3:00 pm.
