Scot Louis Herman, loving husband and father, age 67, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at his home in Gold Canyon, Arizona, with his wife and daughter by his side. Scot was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin on May 6, 1957, to Robert (Bob) and Fay (Behrens) Herman. He was married to Debra (Doehr) Herman on March 26, 1992, in Chandler, Arizona.
Scot owned and operated Herman’s Plumbing and Heating, Inc. in Wisconsin Rapids. The business was started by Scot’s Grandfather, Lou Herman, in the 1930’s and continued to operate under the guidance of Scot’s father and mother, Bob and Fay (Behrens) Herman until Bob’s death in 1982. Scot ran the business for the next 20 years. In 2002 the business was merged with Eron and Gee Plumbing. At this time Scot and Deb moved, with their daughter Elyse, to Gold Canyon, Arizona, where he worked in the plumbing industry until his death. Scot was proud to be a Master Plumber and loved working in sales and commercial plumbing quotations right up until his death. He was well loved by his many clients, and business associates who sought him out for his expertise and friendly manner.
Scot was an avid golfer. He lettered in golf and basketball at Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids, and received the National “W” certificate of merit in 1975 as a scholar athlete when he graduated. He loved to play golf at Bull’s Eye Country Club with his many golfing friends. He especially loved Men’s Day if he could squeeze in 36 holes and then have a friendly game of cards after. He was fortunate to play amazing courses with his wife and friends in Arizona and Maui. Most weekend mornings, if he was not playing golf, you would find Scot polishing his cars. He loved fast, beautiful cars and was passionate about keeping them that way. Scot was a lifelong sports fan and always supported the Badgers and the Packers, even when they were not at their best. Some of his fondest memories were of going to Packer games with his dad in the 1960’s and 70’s.
Scot loved to spend time with his family and was so proud of Elyse as she graduated from college and grew into the beautiful person she is today.
Scot is survived by his wife Deb; daughter Elyse Field (Eric Hoskin) of Phoenix Arizona, sisters, Lynn (Roger) Bong of Waukesha, WI, and Sandy (John) Kupkovits of Ooltewah, TN, sisters-in-law Denise (Ken) Mancl of Nekoosa, WI and Carole Pankratz of Spencer, WI, many loved nieces and nephews and special family friend Lynn Sweet. He was predeceased by his Father, Mother, brother-in-law Leon Pankratz and very good friend Scott Sweet.
His family would like to thank the Ironwood Cancer Research Center and Suncrest Hospice Care.
A celebration of life will be held for Scot at Nepco Lake Enclosed Shelter (1410 Griffith Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids, WI) on September 20, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
