Shirley (Fiduccia) Hammer, 84, of Gilbert, AZ, and formally Tustin, CA, passed away at the start of Holy Week on Saturday, April 13, 2019, with family by her side. Shirley was born in August 1935, in Garfield, New Jersey, to Mary Rose and Anthony Joseph Fiduccia. As a young girl she moved with her family to Orange County, CA where she graduated from Santa Ana High School, in Santa Ana, CA. Shirley married her husband of 63 years, Joseph P Hammer, in Anaheim, CA, in August of 1956. Their devotion and love for each other flourished and they were blessed to have and raise six beautiful children together.
Shirley and her husband built their life together in California and Shirley devoted herself to raising their six children, taking care of their large family and household, and being active members in their community and church. Shirley is a long-time member of The Community of Christ church where she was involved with participating in various women’s groups, church services, charities, church youth leadership, children’s camps, assisting wherever there was a need and always attending to the care of others.
In 2004, with her children grown with families of their own and living in towns across the country from Boston to CA, Shirley and her husband relocated to Gilbert, AZ. They settled into a beautiful community in Gilbert near several of their children. Here, Shirley and her husband enjoyed their retirement years, staying active in church, making many friends and treasuring time with their children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents; Mary Rose and Anthony Joseph Fiduccia, her sister; Francis & husband Theodore Murrish, her brother; Dominick Anthony Fiduccia, her brothers-in-law; Witt Williford & Richard Carroll, and her sister-in-law Joan Paulich.
Shirley is survived by her devoted, loving husband, Joseph Parker Hammer, their six children and their spouses; Joseph P Hammer, Jr & Susan, J Parker Hammer & Kevin, Sherrilee Hammer Denton & Brad, Cindelee Hammer Middleton & Steve, Brendalee Hammer Olinger & ex-husband Robert, Lorilee Hammer Mino & Michael. Her fourteen(14) beautiful grand-children and their spouses; Aaron & Jenny, Keely & Jake, Adam, Kacie, Blake & Stephanie, Brady, Bryten, Breely & Brandon, Brennan, Bryce, Colby & Katie, Cody, Chad, Eric and four (4) exceptional step-grandchildren;, Kyle, Alex, Daniel, Kristen.
Her thirteen (13) precious great-grandchildren; Kaydence, Caleb, Kenzie, Noah, Joey, Sammy, Kai, Lana Li, Izabella, Lillian, Emma Mae, Taft, Elliott Grace. Her sisters; Rosemarie Williford & Carol Ann Carroll. Her sisters-in-law; Judy Holcom & Oki Fiduccia. Her many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Shirley was a devoted wife, Mom, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend. Her life was overflowing with love of family, laughter, tears, joy and thanksgiving for the many blessings that our Heavenly Father bestowed upon her and her family. She was a faithful servant, full of faith, hope and love for our Lord, always trusting in His eternal promises of everlasting life. She dedicated herself to her family and service to our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. Shirley’s legacy of love, faith and hope will continue to grow and flourish with those she loved so deeply and who loved and treasured her in return. Until we are all reunited in Heaven again; We love you Honey, Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Friend.
Celebration of Life service to honor Shirley will be held Saturday, May 11th, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 S Dobson Rd, Mesa, AZ 85202, with a hosted reception following. Reception details and host directions will be provided at the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made in honor of their beloved
cherished Wife & Mother, Shirley Hammer, to Hospice of the Valley (www.HOV.org), who provided tender loving care and support to Shirley and her family.
