She was born in Cottage Grove, Oregon on October 4, 1930. She was married to Walter E Newton on June 1, 1952 in Oregon, and they were happily married for over 55 years. Before retiring to Mesa, Arizona, Mrs. Shirley Newton worked as a secretary at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. She was a dedicated member of the East University Church of God in Mesa, Arizona, and she had a passion for all animals, especially for her cats. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, journaling, and travel.
She is survived by her grandsons, Jeremy Newton, Christopher Newton, and her daughter-in-law, Bethany Newton of Portland, Oregon.
