Socorro Sotelo Montez passed away on March 9, 2026, at the age of 95. She was born in Saric, Mexico on May 5, 1930, to parents Jose Sotelo and Beatrice Soria. She was a resident of Mesa, Arizona.
Socorro was a farmer. She loved working the fields growing crops and livestock. She would take her children to the fields with her to pick cotton. She could grow anything. She had a small farm in Maricopa with peacocks and emus. She grew vegetables on the farm to make a living. She was a great cook. She was known for her tamales. She made tortillas outdoors and would feed the children the first part of the tortillas. Santiago, the oldest, loved her bean burritos and Gilbert loved her papas con frijoles. She was a loving mom. She attended church at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mesa, Arizona up until her illness. Her children attended church with her and received their sacraments. She taught her children to be very independent. They were taught to work hard and reach for their dreams. Her children are a testament to her love and dedication, as they have done well with their life choices. She was such a kind and loving person. She will be greatly missed.
