Sue was born on April 5, 1944, in Wichita, Kansas, and grew up in Wichita and Mulvane. From an early age, she carried a creative spark and a curiosity for life that never dimmed.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Wes Herrmann; her two sons, Mike Herrmann (wife Kelly) and Mark Herrmann (wife Debbie); her cherished grandchildren, Kelsey Niessner (husband Brandon), , Nathan Herrmann (wife Paula), Lindsey (husband Steven) Womer, and Cameron Herrmann; and her great-grandchildren, Reagan, Zoey, Eleanor, and Oliver, who brought her endless joy and pride.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, T.C. and Jewell Pitts, and her sister, Julie Forrest.
An accomplished artist, Sue was best known for her stunning, award-winning quilts. Her creativity extended far beyond fabric—she also enjoyed oil painting, drawing in colored pencil and charcoal, knitting, spinning and dyeing her own yarn, and creating custom color swatches for quilting. Her hands were rarely still, and her imagination never rested.
Sue also had a deep love for adventure and beautiful machines. She delighted in driving—and racing—her 1966 Porsche 912 and riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle, embracing the open road with the same enthusiasm she brought to every part of her life. To Sue, every day was an adventure—and she truly made the most of every single one.
