We are deeply saddened and shocked by Summer’s sudden death.
She was without a doubt, the light of our lives, the very best friend, and the proudest mother you’d ever meet. Summer was born on a sunny, summer day, July 27, 1979. She was raised riding horses in the beautiful small town of Springerville, Arizona, by her mom, Judith Mae Rohrer.
She had a way of turning even the most mundane moments into laugh-out-loud adventures. I will miss the way she would exclaim “Hiiii!!!” whenever she greeted you. There was no way you could hear that “Hi” and not smile back. Summer could find the humor in any situation. She was there for us in the best of times and always showed up in the worst of times too. She had the most amazing laugh. She always seemed to know just what to say. She was as loyal and as reliable as they come. She worked so hard to provide for herself and her son.
Above all else, She was a fiercely devoted and proud mom to her son, Brody. If you were around her for five minutes, you knew he was the world to her. That boy hung the moon! She never missed a chance to show up for him, brag about him, take thousands of pictures of him, and then spend hours scrapbooking those pictures. She loved being his biggest (and loudest) cheerleader, always screaming from the stands. I’m pretty sure we can still hear her whistle from wherever she is!
While Summer’s departure leaves a void that can never be filled, we choose to remember her as the vibrant, funny, remarkable, animal loving, deep in her feelings- soul that she was.
We will be forever grateful for the time we had with her and it will never have been enough.
She is survived by her son Brody Hartman, her goodest boy, dog Baloo, her sisters Katie and Abbie, her nieces, nephews, her ex-husband, Jason Hartman, so many extended family members and countless friends. She is preceded in death by her mother Judy Rohrer, her birth mother, Tina Potter and her grandmother Sue Kamerick.
In lieu of flowers and to honor the amazing mother that Summer was, please consider donating to the GoFund Me fundraiser set up for Brody.
Rest in peace, dear Summer, you will never be forgotten and Brody will never be alone. Love you forever.
