Born on August 24, 1961, Susan built a life marked by dedication to her work and deep care for the people around her. She attended the College of Mount St. Joseph and went on to a career in training and development, most recently serving as a Senior Learning Manager at American Express. Her professional path reflected a longstanding commitment to learning, growth, and helping others develop their abilities.
Susan was preceded in death by her father, Donald Heil; her mother, Beverly Heil; and her brothers, Andrew Heil and Stephen Heil. She is remembered by her sister, Terry Schmidt (John); her brother, Mike Heil (Laura); her sisters, Lisa Laidlaw (Terry) and Amy Baird; her sisters-in-law, Kathy Heil (Steve) and Melissa Heil (Andy); her nephews, Jeremy, Jon, Chris, Ryan (Taylor), Ben (Kelly), Jacob (Madison), and Matthew; and her nieces, Chelsea (Michael), Stephanie (Nick), and Lauren.
She also leaves a lasting memory through the qualities those who knew her experienced so clearly: she was kind, generous, welcoming, supportive, and always willing to listen. Susan cared deeply about people and loved her family. Beyond work and family life, she enjoyed fashion, art, classic movies, reading, and travel.
Visitation services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 10:00am-11:00am at St Anthony Catholic Church; 820 Bowen St. Dayton, Ohio 45410. Funeral Mass will follow on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Following services; Susan will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery; 1625 Calvary Ave. Dayton, Ohio 45409.A celebration of life service will be held in Phoenix, Arizona at a later date.
In keeping with Susan’s memory, donations may be made to New York Bully Crew or The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee.
