Susanne Lucie Hildegard Pettit

July 30, 1938November 15, 2020

Susanne (Susi) L. Pettit of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away peacefully at her residence on November 15, 2020. Susi was born on July 30, 1938 in Berlin, Germany to parents Wilhelm and Hildegard Rupp.

Susi was a graduate of Friedrich Froebel Institution in Berlin. Soon after graduation, she worked as a kindergarten teacher in Berlin and Hamburg. At the age of 21, she emigrated to the United States where she worked as an au pair for multiple families on the east coast. She eventually worked her way to an administrative assistant role with the U.S. Air Force at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

Susi lived most of her adult life in the Northern Virginia area where she met and married her first husband, Albert Bregida. It was there that they raised their daughter, Claudine, for many years. During her retirement years, she loved taking care of her 3 faithful canine companions: Scottie, Oliver and Sylvester. In 2017, Susi relocated to Scottsdale to be closer to her daughter and family.

Susi is predeceased by her parents, Wilhelm and Hildegard Rupp. She is survived by her brother Olaf Rupp of Germany, and her daughter Claudine Fagan and son-in-law Thomas Fagan, Jr. of Scottsdale. She’s also survived by her loving grandchildren, Gabriella of Salt Lake City and Michael of San Diego.

Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by Advantage Melcher-Roses funeral home in Mesa. Interment is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on November 25th at Green Acres Cemetery in Scottsdale.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice of the Valley for their compassionate care of mom. “Ruhe sanft in Frieden,” Grandma Susi!
