

Theodore C. Oman, age 94, formerly of St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born January 8, 1919, in Clara City, MN, the son of Carl Gustaf and Mildred Mae Howard Oman. On September 4, 1943, he married the love of his life, Geraldine Johnson. She survives. Theodore proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. While serving, he invented an engine modification improving the maneuverability of allied aircraft, thus having a direct impact on allied victories in Europe. He was a long-time member of the American Legion. In years past, Theodore was an active hunter and fisherman. In his spare time he enjoyed reading and playing cards with friends. He and his wife, Geraldine, are former members of First Lutheran Church in St. Paul. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Gary Alan Oman and his wife Sheri, Steven Paul Oman and his wife Kitty, and Kari Jo Oman-Schmitz; nine grandchildren, Michael Oman and his wife Laura, Jessica Golden and her husband Adam, Severin Oman, Laura Marchese and her husband Paul, Amy Hawkins and her husband Kevin, Carissa Drake and her husband Robert, Benjamin Schmitz and his wife Madeline, Daniel Schmitz, and Lydia Schmitz; ten great-grandchildren, Garrett and Blake Oman, Ascher and Avery Golden, Aiden, Logan and Cole Marchese, Caleb and Levi Jonas, and Stella Drake; two sisters, Betty Winner and Beverly Smith; and a brother, James Oman. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Wally, Russell, Carl, and Robert Oman; and a sister, Frances Farinella. No services are planned at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, Mesa, AZ.
