

She was born in Brewster, Minnesota on September 8, 1931 to Bernhard and Vauna (Curtis) Kuehl and grew up in the Brewster area. Vauna was among the youngest of the eighteen children born to the Kuehls and was raised by her older sisters upon the early death of her mother. On January 7, 1951, she married Richard (Dick) Gieser. The couple met as co-workers at the Campbell Soup Company and were happily married until Dick’s passing in 2005. The couple made their home in Worthington, Minnesota, where Dick was employed as a Chief Warrant Officer for the Minnesota National Guard, until moving to Tracy, Minnesota in 1974, where he continued to work for the National Guard until 1986. Upon retirement, they moved to Mesa, Arizona. In her later years, Vauna relocated to Show Low, Arizona to reside with her son.
A loving wife and mother to three children, Vauna never held employment outside the home. She loved children, animals, gardening, sewing and crafts, reading, and was an active member in several Lutheran congregations over the years. She was known for her soft-heart, supportive attitude, and strength.
Vauna is survived by three children and their spouses/significant others: Michael (Mike) Gieser and Brenda Stickler (Show Low, AZ), Judy Gieser Ford and David Ford (Mesa, AZ), and Pamela (Pam) Gieser Nowak and Ken Monroe (Albuquerque, NM); one grandson and his wife: Matthew (Matt) and Sherry Ford; one granddaughter and her significant other: Katrina Nowak and Don Coleman; and seven great-grandchildren. Three siblings also survive her: Mrs. Evelyn Froderman (Sioux Falls, SD), Alvin and Connie Kuehl (Worthington, MN), and Mrs. Harriet Thorson (Sleepy Eye, MN) along with 32 nieces and nephews and their families. Her parents and fourteen siblings preceded her in death.
Memorial Services will be held in Show Low, AZ at Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 10th at 1:00 PM, and in Worthington, MN in Summer of 2023.
