Vicki Ann Sousa passed away January 30, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona. Born in Hayward, California to Robert and Genevieve (Anderson) Law, Vicki arrived on November 11, 1948. Vicki married the love of her life, Larry, in Mesa, Arizona in 1995. Together they shared many years adoring each other. She took excellent care of Larry. In fact, one might say she spoiled him! Vicki and Larry came together over their common interests. They loved to stroll on the beach, play golf and tennis, and just simply be together. Family was of the utmost importance to Vicki; her loving nature was evident in all she did for her family. The sun set and rose on her grandchildren. Being their Nana was one of her greatest joys. Some of Vicki’s most treasured moments came from her family gatherings. Having everyone together planted the biggest smile on her face. Christmas was a special time for Vicki and her family. Playing Santa was her favorite Christmas tradition. Everyone was given their gifts one at a time, and opened it while everyone else watched. It may have taken a while, but the happiness it brought her was worth it. Lady, Vicki’s dog, was another member of the family. She adored Lady. The loving and caring spirit Vicki radiated did not stop at her family. Caring for neighbors, filling in for water aerobics instructors without being asked, the task did not matter, as long as she could help. Just helping was what Vicki excelled in. Being in the water brought Vicki so much delight, she loved the ocean. She was such an avid swimmer; she had the opportunity to go to the Olympics. Being physically active was important to Vicki; she would play golf with the ladies on Tuesday, and then go out with Larry on Sunday. The expression “green thumb” was made just for Vicki. If you needed something to grow, she could make it happen. Spending time in the kitchen, cooking and baking, was another activity that Vicki found enjoyment in. Lasagna was her specialty, often making her sauce from scratch, sometimes she would use Prego. Achieving the status of Reiki Master was a great source of pride for Vicki. She truly enjoyed being a masseuse, and bringing people comfort. Vicki is survived by her adoring husband, Larry, children Amy Elliott, Michael Elliott, James Sousa, and Jean Sousa, grandchildren Kameron Elliott, Swan Stafford, and Joseph Sousa, sister Laurie Evans, and brother David Law. Services are private. Arrangements are entrusted to Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care 6747 East Broadway Road Mesa, Arizona 480-830-4422. The family asks that memories of Vicki be shared on their website at www.MariposaGardens.com.
