Dear Brother,
No words can express my deep sorrow for the loss of you.
My cherished, happy memories of you through our childhood living in Queens, the 50s Era! Catholic School, where you were an altar boy, cowboy TV shows played out with your friends, including me, because I was Vinny’s sister. I had a free pass and looked up to you more every day, and I felt proud and had no worries; I was safe.
Our move to Lindenhurst was a change. No longer friends waiting for us outside or neighbors watching over us. We rode bikes, you played baseball, oh, that face you would make after losing a game!
We didn’t always get along. You would yell, “Make her stop!!” each time I sang in the bath. Mom said I had a beautiful voice, Dad said I needed practice. Payback came when you would pretend to be sick. As soon as I came home from school, Mom had me bring you whatever she thought you needed to get well. Up and down I went, each time you smiling and laughing at me!
In the 60s, you were the first to get a used car Dad bought you. You were dating your “special girlfriend”, Rosemarie. At a V.F.W. dance where a band played The Twist songs, you and Rosemarie took over the dance floor. The band wanted you to go on tour with them, a no from your parents! You eventually got married, having two wonderful sons.
Moving to Arizona extended the family to include daughter-in-laws, Michael’s Sherrl and Anthony’s Michelle, as well as seven wonderful grandchildren.
Life took you on a ride that tested your faith, determination, and strength to live through all your suffering. You never lost your humility, caring for family and friends. I cry as I write this, not from grief, though it is profound, but from my great admiration of you. The years held both joy and great sorrow. God’s Angels carried you home to stand next to Him and all who left before you.
I hear you call me Sis each day, as we said goodbye to each other, our sign off was always, “Love you Brother”, “Love you too”.
