

Virginia Ielene “Ginny” McNally passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at her home in Mesa, Arizona, with her family by her side. Born on August 16, 1918, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, Virginia was the oldest of three children. Virginia married Joseph Luke McNally in 1942 at St. Columba Church in Oakland, California. They raised their five children in Oakland and spent their family summers at their cabin in Felton, California. In 1990, Virginia moved to Mesa where she recently celebrated her 98th birthday with friends in her retirement community. She stayed active by exercising, playing card games and bingo, faithfully following the Diamondbacks, and going to musical shows performed by her favorite singers, Gene, Jay, and Oly Mann. Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph McNally in 1971; parents Elzie Stodgel and Nellie Burkhead and her sister Leora Clausen. She is survived by her five children, Ellen (Terry) Vick, Sharon (Michael) May, Judy (Bill) Brennan, John (Heike) McNally and Pat (Rick) Pace; grandchildren, Sarah (Tom) Poser, Tim (Stephanie) Vick, Jake May, Patrick (Colleen) Brennan, Caitlin Brennan, Shaye Brennan, Annika McNally, Markus McNally and Jenny Pace; her great grandchildren, Ashley Vick, Trevor Vick, Charlie Poser, Eddie Poser and Lulu Poser as well as her younger brother William Stodgel. She will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Virginia’s name to Hospice at Home of Arizona, 1423 S. Higley Road, Suite 121, Mesa, AZ 85206.
