Vivian was born in 1935 to James Henry and Edna Henry in Nortonville Kansas
who precede her in death. Vivian’s older brother, Donald also preceeded her in death
Vivian leaves to mourn, her loving husband of 44 years Robert (Bob) Hoerner. After working in Kansas, Missouri, and Ohio as a Registered Nurse; she retired in 1982 and worked at an H&R Block office and a travel agency as she and Bob pursued many interests while living in Ohio.
Vivian and Bob’s married life was filled with adventure. They sailed sail boats and were in several races. They became avid motorcyclists traveling the United States covering 48 states. They also learned to love square dancing together and danced all over the country to 100 different callers in 38 states. In 1995, Vivian and Bob sold their home in Ohio and became full time RV’ers and again traveled the country visiting 48 states and several Canadian Providences.
In 2005, Viv and Bob made Mesa Arizona their home and as health would allow them; they traveled to Alaska twice, to Hawaii, and visited family in Kansas and Ohio.
Vivian was a member of Broadway Christian Church and was active in the prayer chain ministry, home communion with Bob, and a small group.
Vivian truly touched many lives and despite her limitations and poor health she rarely complained and was always concerned about others putting other needs before hers. She will be always remembered for her courage, strong fighting spirit, her faith in God and her devotion to her husband. Many who saw them together witnessed the love and care they had for each other.
Vivian also leaves to mourn many family members including 2 sisters: Dorothy Lee Flory of Nortonville, Kansas; Naomi Lorene (George) Hook of Lee’s Summit Missouri; brother Alfred (Mary Kay) Henry of Nortonville, Kansas; 20 nieces and nephews, as well as numerous grand- nieces and nephews.
Vivian’s Ohio family includes her 2 step children: Christine (Steve) Holmes, Robert Hoerner Jr. (Kathy) of Fairborn, Ohio. 4 grandchildren: Steve B. Holmes Jr. (Denise); Shane M. Hoerner (Jessica); Bryan R. Holmes (Amanda), Janet L. Hoerner and ten great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held in the future at the convenience of her husband Bob. Memorial contributions in Vivian’s name may be made to Broadway Christian Church, Mesa Arizona if desired.
