

Walter Edward Borawski, 74, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, left this world suddenly to be with the Lord on February 15, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born on January 9, 1937 in New Britain, Connecticut to Stanley & Mary Borawski. He graduated from New Britain High School and was the captain of the 1954 football team. During one NBHS game, the stocky, rugged, halfback nicknamed “Bronco” ran for 220 yards. He attended Trinity College in Hartford on a football scholarship. He graduated from Trinity with a degree in geology in 1959. He served in the Army which took him too many places including Alaska. He began his professional career with Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut. He married Rosemary Poutre on May 16, 1964. In 1967, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He worked for the Semiconductor Products Sector of Motorola for over 30 years. There he had a successful career as manufacturing Ops Manager. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching his son Walter’s football team and watching him excel at baseball. He enjoyed walks on the beach with Rosemary and body surfing during the family’s annual vacation to Pacific Beach in San Diego. He enjoyed cooking his mom’s old recipes, reading and was an expert at crossword puzzles. During retirement he cherished spending time with his grandsons Kyle and Cameron and taught the boys more about how things work than you can possibly imagine. He will be sorely missed. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Rosemary (Poutre); son Walter and wife Kathy, of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Lisa Borawski and husband Brian Pickard, grandsons Kyle and Cameron of Tempe, AZ; sister Agnes Ostertag of New Britain, CT; brother Al and wife Marge of Windsor Locks, CT; brother Stanley of New Britain, CT; and brother Robert and wife Patricia of Saratoga, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father Stanley, mother Mary (Gil), siblings Joe, Ann, John, Frank, Anthony, Helen and George. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday February 26, 2011 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 1880 W. Libra Rd. Tempe, Arizona 85284. There will be a gathering at Lisa’s home following the Mass. Interment will be at Scared Heart Cemetery in New Britain, CT. The family requests that contributions be made to The American Diabetes Association (1-800-DIABETES) in his memory. Arrangements under the direction of Lakeshore Mortuary, Mesa, AZ.
