She was married to Dr. Merrill Schauers on January 6th, 1962 in Los Angeles, California. In Wanda's earlier years she worked with children of special needs and she was an assistant in the elementary art department. Wanda, then devoted herself to raising 2 beautiful children and spent time supporting Merrill as he received his PHD in Clinical Family Psychology with a degree in Forensic Science. Wanda loved her family, art, photography and laughter. She recently learned how to play cards and was as sharp as a tack.
Wanda is survived by her son, Eric Glenn Schauers and her Daughter, Melanie Louise Compton. Wanda and Merrill also opened their home to foster children throughout the years.
Her children went onto marry Donna Moore, Jim Gilloon and Alan Compton. She felt so blessed to love them like they were her own children and enjoyed their own uniqueness’s. Family was everything to her and she LOVED family time.
She also has 6 amazing grandchildren, Paul Compton, Megan Schauers, Chris Compton, Brandon Schauers, Jason Schauers and Madison Schauers. She loved being a grandma! It made her so happy and she was so in love with all of them. She would always have a special twinkle in her eyes when she would speak of them.
She was also lucky to be blessed by two Great Grandchildren. Caleb Compton is 6.5 years old now and was her constant shadow...always asking where is Grandma Wanda and will you play with me? Recently she was blessed with another beautiful Great Grandson, Knolan White, now 6 months, who is strong, playful and smiling all the time.
Wanda is also survived by her older sibling James Justice who use to call her LUIGI because when he was young he could not pronounce her name and it stuck over the years. She adored her older brother and half- sister Florine.
Wanda lived a blessed life with her Merrill and her family. She was always full of love, kindness and that beautiful smile of hers. She will be missed beyond words.
