

William Cortez Phalp, (Cort) 85, of Anchorage Alaska, passed away on November 16, 2013. Born in Oklahoma City , OK. Cort and his wife of over 50 years, Lois, moved to Anchorage Alaska in 1965 to forge an adventurous new life. He was proud to have served as a Marine 1948 to 1952, was a Mason and a Shriner, and in 1988 became Potentate of the Alaska Shine Center. He started and ran a successful partnership business, Northern Meats Wholesalers, until his retirement when they began a snow bird life in Mesa Az.
Throughout his full life he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed a competitive lifestyle. Whatever he was interested in, he went ‘all in’. He loved racing his Porsche. As a trap shooter he was an Alaskan State Champion. His biggest passion and joy, however, was his boat (the Lois Jean) in Seward, AK and fishing for salmon along with teaching and passing this love on to his family and friends. In the winters he loved to golf.
He was an amazing and loving husband, father and grandfather and friend. He is survived by: his wife, Lois Jean, his son Cort Phalp and wife Susan, son Ron Sainz and wife Penny, son Craig Phalp and wife Melodie, daughter Cari Sheldon and husband Chuck, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and many other loved ones.
Viewing is Saturday, 12-2pm and a memorial service follows immediately at Mariposa Gardens, 400 S. Power Rd., Mesa, AZ 85206.
