Abel Ortega Alvardo, 66 of Dallas, Texas, went to rest on Friday May 16, 2019. Abel was born June 30, 1952 in Tamuin, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to father Porfirio Ortega Nieto and mother Maria Cleofas Ortega Alvarado. Abel was a Federal Police Officer in Mexico, where he served and traveled throughout the country. While a Federal Police Officer, Abel was commissioned to be part of what is considered in the U.S. the secret service for Mexican President Jose Lopez Portillo, and also for then presidential candidate, Miguel de la Madrid. In the U.S. he led a humble life, working tirelessly along with his father in the construction industry. His family was his pride and joy. In his youth he played baseball and as an adult, it became his favorite past time. He was an active member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Dallas, TX. Abel volunteered at church with the Altar Society, Knights of Columbus, and read his bible religiously. Outside of church he took charge and became president of the Parent Teachers Association at Zaragoza Elementary School in Dallas, and also volunteered with the Mexican Folklorico dance companies his children were a part of. Abel was proud of being Mexican, and his Mexican roots. He was preceded in death by his father Porfirio Ortega Nieto. Abel leaves behind his wife Gloria Elizabeth Campos Ortega; daughter Elizabeth Ortega Scher and her husband Eric Scher; sons, Walter W. Ortega and his girlfriend Megan L. Evans, Abraham Ortega, Franklin Ortega and his fiance Tania L. Ware; mother, Maria Cleofas Ortega Alvarado; sisters Juana Laura Lazcano Ortega, Blanca Estela Ortega Alvarado, and Rocio Mateo Ortega; brothers Saul Ortega Alvarado, and Samuel Ortega Alvarado; his sons in Mexico, Edgar Ramon Ortega Berlanga, Ricardo Ortega Berlanga, Oscar Osvaldo Ortega Berlanga, and Abel Ortega Berlanga; granddaughter Amelia Rose Scher, and grandson Eli Harvey Scher; and many nieces and nephews. It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn't go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home. ---------------------------- Abel Ortega Alvardo fallecio en Dallas, Texas el dia 16 de mayo de 2019 a la edad de sesenta y seis años. Abel nació el 30 de junio de 1952 en Tamuin, San Luis Potosí, México, su padre Porfirio Ortega Nieto y su madre María Cleofas Ortega Alvarado. Abel fue oficial de la Policía Federal de Caminos (PFC) en México, donde sirvió y viajó por todo la república. Como oficial de la PFC a Abel le dieron la comisión para ser guardaespalda del presidente Mexicano, José López Portillo, y también para el candidato a la presidencia, Miguel de la Madrid. En los Estados Unidos vivío una vida humilde, trabajando incansablemente junto con su padre en la industria de la construcción. Su familia era su orgullo y felicidad. Desde su juventud jugó béisbol y de adulto era su pasatiempo favorito. El fue un miembro activo de la iglesia católica San Eduardo en Dallas, TX. Abel se ofreció como voluntario en la parroquia con los grupos la Sociedad del Altar, Caballeros de Colón, y leyó su biblia religiosamente. Fuera de la iglesia se hizo cargo y se convirtió en presidente de la Asociación de Padres y Maestros de la Escuela Primaria Zaragoza en Dallas, y también se ofreció como voluntario en las compañías de danza folclórica Mexicana en las que sus hijos eran miembros. Abel era orgulloso de ser mexicano y de su raíz mexicana. Lo precedió en la muerte su padre Porfirio Ortega Nieto. Abel deja atrás a su esposa Gloria Elizabeth Campos Ortega; hija Elizabeth Ortega Scher y esposo Eric Scher; sus hijos, Walter W. Ortega y novia Megan L. Evans, Abraham Ortega, Franklin Ortega y prometida Tania L. Ware; su madre María Cleofas Ortega Alvarado; hermanas Juana Laura Lazcano Ortega, Blanca Estela Ortega Alvarado y Rocío Mateo Ortega; hermanos Saul Ortega Alvarado y Samuel Ortega Alvarado; sus hijos en Mexico Edgar Ramon Ortega Berlanga, Ricardo Ortega Berlanga, Oscar Osvaldo Ortega Berlanga y Abel Ortega Berlanga; nietos Amelia Rose Scher y Eli Harvey Scher; hermanos politicos, sobrinos y demás familia. Dale Señor el descanso eterno y brille para el la luz perpetua.
