Bobette Brandon, age 69, passed away on March 15, 2018 at her home in Mesquite, Texas, surrounded by her family. She was born April 6, 1948 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Robert and Betty Dubose. As an “Air Force Brat” she lived with her family in Germany, Japan, Hawaii, and the United States.
Bobette graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1972 with a Bachelorof Science in Nursing.
She married William Brandon in 1970 and the couple had two daughters, Valerie and Jessica. Bobette worked as a Registered Nurse at hospitals in California and Virginia while William served in the US Navy.
After leaving the Navy in 1978, the couple settled in Texas and Bobette worked for most of her remaining career at Mesquite Community Hospital. She worked with patients and staff in several departments over the years, but found true joy as a neonatal nurse. After Mesquite Community Hospital she started a new adventure at Lakepoint Medical Center as a Neonatal ICU (NICU) nurse. Her career spanned 44 years.
In her spare time, Bobette enjoyed reading, movies, needlepoint and crafts, travel, and volunteering. Her family will always remember her as a kind-hearted, sharp-witted, no-nonsense woman who loved laughter, helping others, and spending time with her family. Bobette is preceded in death by her parents, sister, and father- and mother-in-law. She is survived by her husband Bill, daughters Valerie (Chad) Boyette, and Jessica (Tony) Major, four granddaughters Hailey, Cameron, Sophia, and Payton, and her two grandsons, Colby and Kyle.
Viewing will take place on Wednesday, March 21 from 4 to 8 pm at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home (1111 Military Parkway, Mesquite), with a rosary at 6:30 pm in the same location.
Funeral Mass will be said for Bobette on Thursday, March 22 at 10 am, at Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Garland (950 Trails Parkway). A light lunch will be provided after Mass by Knights of Columbus Council 11862.
Procession to interment at DFW National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas) will take place immediately after lunch. Those wishing to attend the graveside service must be in Lane 1 at DFW no later than1245 pm.
