Brian Allen McKinnie was born on January 9, 1960 in Dallas, Texas. He passed away at home after a short illness on February 18, 2026. Brian graduated from W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas and then attended Baylor University. He lived in Dallas and Waco, then relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina, and later Austin, Texas. He eventually returned to Dallas to live permanently. He worked in retail management.
Brian was passionate about plants and gardening, cooking, movies, his dogs, and his loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his father, Elvin “Rudy” McKinnie Brian is survived by his mother, Mary McKinnie of Dallas and his sister, Diane Wright of Houston. He is survived by two nieces: Natalie Wright of Baltimore, Maryland and Paige Wright of Houston. He is also survived by one uncle and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be held on March 5, 2026 at 1:00 at Anderson Clayton Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite TX.
