Upon graduation from Mesquite High School, Dennis briefly attended Dallas Baptist University before entering the United States Air Force. He bravely served in the Vietnam conflict, traveling throughout Southeast Asia. After finishing his service in Bellingham, Washington he returned to the Dallas area to begin a federal career in telecommunications while earning a business degree from the University of North Texas.
He successfully worked for many years in private industry also, traveling extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad. In 2004, he worked for one year in Boston, Massachusetts before going on to complete his federal service in Washington, D.C. He served his country once again with eight years in the Defense Intelligence Agency.
In addition to the attractions of our nation's capital, Dennis and Rebecca took up hiking and loved finding pockets of woods or wetlands to explore. Old Rag Mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Shenandoah National Park was, and always will be, their one and only mountain.
After retiring in 2013, the “north star” of 105 Whitehurst called Dennis home to Mesquite. He and Rebecca purchased a home a few blocks from his own childhood home and they spent the early years of his retirement traveling the country visiting children and grandchildren. The couple eventually became caregivers for Dennis’s mother up to her passing in 2017.
Until his final days, Dennis was blessed to continue experiencing all the things he cherished so much: quiet mornings and evenings spent on the back porch with his wife of 42 years, watching grandkids and great grandkids run around and fill his new home with joy and laughter, worshipping and fellowshipping with his Church family, and always being there to provide for family in need.
For a man who had been around the world and seen so much, it was the simplest of things he cherished the most.
Dennis is survived by his wife Rebecca, and two children - Angela Snider and Sam Snider (Leecie) and by daughter-in-law Marsha Snider, along with his beloved sister Gale Morran (Troy)
His eldest son, Clint Snider (Marsha) left this world on February 15, 2022.
Dennis and Rebecca’s family includes 8 grandchildren Taryn Lee (Eli), Mason (Anna), Zane (Nicole), Heath Caden (Bailey), Rhett (Lacey), Lyric (Avery), Roslynn, and Huck, as well as eight great grandchildren Savannah, Reagan, and Chessa; Sutton and baby brother Pierce on the way; Bellamy and Lola, Quigley and Maisie.
