Emma Jean Giesen, age 85, passed away on February 27, 2018 in Mesquite, Texas. She was born on May 2, 1932 in Maynard, Arkansas to parents Alphus Poynor and Oma Sides. Emma was raised in Maynard, AR and she graduated as Salutatorian at age seventeen from Pocahontas High School in 1949.
She married Frederick T. Giesen in 1960 and the couple had two children. She was a housewife and secretary.
In her spare time Emma enjoyed horses and reading. Her family and friends will always remember her as a sweet lady that loved to tell stories of her Arkansas upbringing as well as bragging on her daughters and their accomplishments.
She is preceded in death by her husband Frederick T. Giesen; brother J.W. Poynor; sisters Dean Swindle, Virginia Ostrander, and Bea LaPresto.
Emma is survived by her daughters Audrey Spicer and Linda Cole and her spouse Michael Cole; as well as other nieces and nephews.
