George M Ortiz, 93, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away on August 2, 2026. He was born on July 20, 1933, in Dallas, Texas, to Delfina Morales and Richard Ortiz. George spent many of his early years between Dallas, Texas, and Mexico City, Mexico—an upbringing that helped shape the steady strength and adaptability that marked his life.
At the age of 20, George joined the U.S. Navy in 1953. Through his service, he earned his G.E.D. and later pursued a college education. He spoke of those years with deep appreciation, and he especially enjoyed sharing his memories with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In the way he told his stories—with warmth, candor, and a quiet sense of humor—George offered not only recollections, but also a lasting example of courage, perseverance, and faithful commitment.
On November 24, 1955, George married the love of his life, Ramona Hernandez. Together they shared 58 years of marriage and raised five children: Norma, George, Rebecca, James, and Cristina. George worked hard and remained devoted to his family, giving his time and effort with patience and generosity, and showing his love in the steady, dependable ways that endure.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Ortiz; his son, George Ortiz; and his grandson, Joseph Ortiz. He is survived by his daughters, Norma, Rebecca, and Cristina; his son, James Ortiz; as well as 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
George will be remembered for a life lived with strength and gentleness, for loyalty that never wavered, and for a kind-hearted spirit that made others feel seen and valued. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and the example he set through a lifetime of honest, steadfast care.
