Glenda Faye Newby Smith passed away on April 4, 2023, at 1:30 am in Arlington, Tx. She passed away peacefully being comforted by her sister and daughter. She was born on August 3, 1954, to John W. Newby and Willa “Estalene” Lloyd in Henrietta, TX. She was preceded in death by her mother Estalene, her father John, stepfather Bill “Pappy” Schultz, brother Byron, and husband of 24 years TJ Smith. She is survived by her sister Lindal, brothers James and Joe, daughter Heather, and stepsons Jason and James. She also left behind 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Glenda lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger. She went by many names friend, sister, wife, mom, grandma, and granny. Her favorite things to do were play dominos and shuffleboard with her girlfriends, drinking wine, and solving the New York Times crossword puzzle. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Glenda’s Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post 504 located at 130 East Main Street, Mesquite, TX 75149; on April 22, 2023, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers please feel free to stop by and make a donation to the American Legion.
