What a joy and privilege it was for me to work with this lovely lady at Bell Telephone. Irene was always so pleasant and uplifting to those in our work force. I am happy to include Irene as a friend I will see again one day. May her family and friends remember her with a smile and not sadness. I know I will.

I worked with Irene in Service Evaluation, SBC, Dallas. She and her good friend Laverne Odom were absolutely two of the best workers in the entire department. I depended on both of them so much. Irene was a beautiful person inside and out. I treasured her friendship.

The world is a little less brighter now that you are not in it. I will always love you my special auntie, you were so good to me. The Vegas Porter reunion where we shared a room together is one of my favorite memories. I was in my late 20s...You told me so many stories and we laughed till we couldn’t anymore, and you hardly let me sleep. We won $250 in quarters together at the slot machines, I kept my half and you played yours away. Another favorite memory was from when I was a little girl and we shared the fold out bed in Gramma and Grampa Porters front living room one visit. I was maybe 9 or 10 and you told me a stories about when you were little growing up. A loose horse trotted by the front window and headed up the road and we laughed together at how odd that was. My last conversation with you a few days before you left us, you called and we’re so happy. Your brother enjoyed talking with you and we were planning our trip to come see you. I imagine Heaven is an incredible place. Please say hi to my mama for me. Love always, Lisa
