Irene Torrez

Irene Torrez passed away on September 16, 2021, in Fort Worth at the age of 72. Irene was born in Dallas on September 20, 1948, to Jesse R. Torrez, Sr. and Lola Torrez. She graduated from Crozier Tech High School in 1967.

Irene worked in Dallas ISD food services for twenty-five years at Woodrow Wilson High School. In her spare time, she enjoyed church activities, cooking, and crafting, particularly quilting and crochet. She also enjoyed the Texas Rangers and TCU College football.

She will be remembered by her family as a joyful, happy, caring, and fun Aunt & Sister. She loved her nieces and nephews and spending time with her family.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse R., Sr. and Lola Torrez as well as her brother, Jesse R. Torrez, Jr., sisters-in-law, Pamela and Sharon Torrez. She is survived by her siblings: brothers Daniel Torrez and wife Kimberly, Richard Torrez, sisters Rebecca Saldivar and husband Rene and Helen Marie Escamilla. In addition, she is survived by fifteen nieces and nephews, twenty great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of friends and family.

A visitation for Irene will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A wake service will occur Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 6:00 PM, 1111 Military Pkwy, Mesquite, Texas 75149. A funeral service will occur Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 3204 Skillman St., Dallas, Texas 75206. A committal service will occur Friday, September 24, 2021 at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75228.
