

A celebration of life of Mr. Jerry Vann Odom, 79, of Greenville will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Anderson Clayton Gonzalez Funeral Home, with nephew Jason Odom officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Jerry passed from this life peacefully on June 15 at his home in Greenville surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was born December 22, 1945 in Hillsboro to the late Rev. Vannie B. Odom and Lillie Lorene Smith Odom. He graduated from Beckville High School in 1964 after which he attended Panola Jr. College. Jerry served his country in the United States Army from 1965-1967 at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He was a member of Park Meadows Baptist Church in Waxahachie, Texas.
Jerry’s talent for guitar playing and love of music led him to Nashville, Tennessee, writing songs for Tom T. Hall. His band, Jerry and the Nashville Undergrounds, played various events and nightclubs throughout his time in Nashville. After returning to Texas, he continued writing songs and playing his guitar until his death. Jerry was a CDL driving instructor at International Schools from which he retired in 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Johnny Paul Odom.
Jerry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Martha Partin Odom, his daughters Marty Keene and husband Kevin of Commerce; LeAnn Lankford and husband Kevin of Sachse; and Darla Beesley of Venus; grandchildren Morgan Wilkerson, Michell Beesley, Sarah Lankford, Katie Lankford; and five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
