Jimmy Lee Lacy, age 74, went to sleep in death on Friday, June 11, 2021, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on February 23, 1947, in Kilgore, Texas to George Washington Lacy and Annie Lee Lacy. Jimmy graduated from North Chapel High School in Kilgore. After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force, and he was eventually sent to Vietnam. When he returned from overseas, he was stationed at Othella Air Force Base in Othella, Washington. It was on a weekend trip to Dallas for business that he met his wife Pebble. They were married on March 4, 1969, and they were inseparable. They had a bond that was unique. They were always together with their boys.
They started to study the Bible together with Sis Mary Eldridge, a Jehovah’s Witness in 1971. They dedicated their lives to Jehovah and were baptized on July 6, 1973, at an international convention in Houston, Texas. Becoming a Jehovah’s Witness was very important to Jimmy. He loved Jehovah, the door-to-door ministry, and being with the friends. Since his wife’s family were already Witnesses, he became very close to them. He loved them so much and they loved him, he became like their adoptive son.
Jimmy was a kind, soft spoken person who loved his kids, his families’ kids, and all the kids in the Kingdom Hall. And believe me, they loved him too. Many of the young ones have called or came by to visit and support him.
He had a special relationship with his boys, Daryl and Corey. When they were young, he spent a lot of time with them, whether in the ministry or doing fun things together. At some point, when he owned his own business, they went to work with him.
Jimmy spent many hours working on various projects, especially on the Denton Assembly Hall. He met and made many friends while working on that project.
When his health started to decline several years ago, and he could not do much, many brothers would take him out in the door-to-door ministry and let him just get one door if he could. Playing music or listening to the Bible or Watchtower being read would perk him up and so he did a lot of that. We look forward to seeing him again soon in the resurrection.
He is survived by his wife Pebble of 52 years, his sons Daryl and Corey Lacy, 2 grandsons Colyn and Conner Lacy of Marshall, Texas. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Lacy, his brother Maurice Lacy (Edna), his brother Cleveland Lacy (Annie), his brother Walter Lacy (Jean), and his brother James Donnell Lacy (Deborah) and lots of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
His parents George Washington Lacy and Annie Lee Lacy, his sister Georgia Gholston, and his brother Floyd Lacy preceded him in death.
