Johnnie Mary Ford passed away at age 90 on February 8, 2022. She was born in Duncan, Oklahoma to Hardy Lee and Cora Inez Ford. Johnnie grew up in Duncan and then graduated from East Central State College in Ada, OK in 1953. She married William (Bill) Busbee on May 11, 1957. They had two children, Lisa Ann Busbee and Michael Ford Busbee. Johnnie’s first job after college graduation was teaching school in Comanche, OK. She later worked as a secretary for Halliburton Oil in Duncan, OK where she met her future husband, who had been transferred from Louisiana by Halliburton. After getting married, the young couple eventually settled down in Dallas TX, where she worked as a secretary for Dallas Methodist Hospital and then as the bookkeeper for Bill’s State Farm Insurance agency in Mesquite, TX. His agency of 30+ years was audited one time by the IRS. When the audit was complete, the two agents told Bill he needed to keep whoever did his books was because his agency had the most perfect set of records they had ever seen in their careers! She was very proud of this. Bill and Johnnie loved to travel together and with other couple friends. They were blessed to be able to travel all over the USA, Canada, Mexico, and parts of Europe during their marriage.
She attended Town East Baptist Church for over 55 years and loved teaching Sunday school classes to the 2–3-year-old children. Many generations grew up knowing and loving Ms. Johnnie. She will be remembered for her acts of loving kindness, many of which to this day remain private as she did not want to be publicly known for them.
She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Ford Busbee, her sister Frankie Jorgenson and her parents, Hardy and Cora Inez Ford.
She is survived by her husband Bill Busbee; her daughter Lisa Busbee and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, https://www.alz.org/
