John was born on November 26, 1956 in Rislip, Middlesex, England to Dale and Patricia Hall while his father was serving in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Shortly thereafter, his family moved to Oklahoma and then to Amarillo, Texas, where he spent the majority of his childhood and teenage years. Throughout this time, John enjoyed actively participating in Boy Scouts and attained the Eagle Scout award. He participated in many trips with Boy Scouts that ranged from camping trips to traveling to Japan for the World Jamboree in 1971. In High School, John also enjoyed singing and traveling to perform at various church events.
John went to West Texas State University and majored in business administration. He was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity. During this time, he worked as a business administrator for a local hospital. John also enjoyed going on trips to Red River, New Mexico to ski with his family.
He met Carol, his wife, the night of his graduation when, by chance, she and her friends got turned around on a road trip and ended up driving to Amarillo. He and Carol dated for 11 months before getting married on April 18, 1981. After living in Red River, New Mexico, where John was the controller of Red River Ski Area, he got a job at Arco Oil and Gas and moved to Dallas, Texas.
John and Carol quickly became members of Richardson Church of the Nazarene and found a wonderful community in their young adult Sunday School Class. John enjoyed working in the church sound booth, a ministry with which he served for over 30 years. John enjoyed helping with various technical aspects of the church from providing tech support He even coordinated wiring the internet throughout the campus when RCN moved into the church that they are in now. He often spoke of God’s call to serve with the skills that we are given.
In addition to serving at Richardson Church of the Nazarene, John used his skills to help many other people as well. He gave countless hours to providing tech support and was instrumental in finding donated technology to give to Saint Mary’s School in Downtown Dallas. John wouldn’t hesitate to drop everything to provide computer support to anyone else who needed it.
John loved owning his own business, Internet Technologies Corporation, and cared about each company that he got to work with. He was especially grateful that he got to work with Fruit of the Earth for over 30 years.
John was a wonderful father and husband who provided and cared for his daughters and wife. He spent many weekends traveling to sporting events, going to choir concerts, and fixing things around the house. When at home, he loved gardening, woodworking, using a ham radio, and building just about anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Patricia Hall. He is survived by his wife, Carol Hall; his two daughters, Kimberly (Matt) Codd and Kelly (Jeff) Moss; and his five grandchildren, Audrey, Harper, Ellie, Henry, and Holly. He was so loved by all and will be missed.
