He was born in Semarang, Indonesia on the island of Java, then refugee to the
Netherlands, conscript in the Dutch Navy, bass player of the Thunderbolts,
and Porsche mechanic.
He was an immigrant to the United States of America, technician at Raychem
Corporation, and then aircraft mechanic of the SR-71, F-4, T-38, & A-10 for the US
Air Force serving in California, Thailand for the Vietnam War, Germany,
England, & Texas, retiring after 20 years as a technical sergeant outfitted in
green fatigues, strapping combat boots to his bold calves, hair slicked back
with the scent of Tabac and black coffee in hand, turning wrenches with
imposing tattooed arms.
He lived through triumphant victories and devastating regrets. He broke
hearts and had his heart broken. He was dominant in the martial arts, but
friendly to strangers with a perpetually kind heart. He played soccer &
football, won racquetball tournaments, and shot pool and guns, but also
enjoyed the serenity of music, poems, and art. He would often buy used cars,
fix them, and sell them. He did not possess a fortune, but was always eager to
help those less fortunate and even those more fortunate. He prayed to GOD
and meditated. He will never be forgotten. We love you, Dad.
