Kay Barton was born on September 8, 1939 to Alonzo and Clara in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She graduated from Russellville High School in 1955. Kay married Jesse A. Barton on April 19, 1957 after a four month courtship. After they were married, she and Jesse moved to Tennessee before relocating permanently to Texas. They were married a wonderful 40 and a half years. Jesse and Kay met at their church, and even though Jesse brought a date with him, he sat behind Kay and played with her hair. Kay was strong in her faith and believed that her biggest achievement was her ability to serve Christ. Kay and Jesse were owner operators of their own business, but for the past five years Kay was devoted to babysitting her triplet great-granddaughters. Her family describes her as a very family oriented person who looked forward to holidays spent with her family. She was a very strong woman even up to the end of her life. Kay was a fighter but she was very loving to everyone she met. She had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Kay is preceded in death by her husband of forty and a half years Jesse Barton; her sister Bonnie Taylor; and her parents Alonzo and Clara Whitenton. She is survived by daughters Ann Barton Sam and husband Ron of Cortez, Colorado, and Deborah Barton of Mesquite, Texas; son Doug Barton and wife Nancy of Garland, Texas; granddaughters Brandy Vallejo and husband Perfecto, Julie Dodge, Danielle Lopez and husband David, and Jenny Crowe and husband Thomas; and grandsons Jeremy Dodge, Kyle Dodge, Joshua Barton and Justin Barton.
