Loretta Ann Hammons Phillips passed from this life on June 26, 2022 with her beloved husband, Ray Phillips at her side. Loretta was born to parents E.C. and Flora Hammons in Waco, Texas on October 17, 1940, the third of six girls. She eloped with her soulmate, Ray Phillips when she was just 16 years old and he was 17. This began a 65 year marriage that was a model of love and fidelity to everyone who knew them. Ray and Loretta were the parents of one daughter, Carmon Beth.
Loretta is known for her strength. She displayed strength and fortitude by surviving breast cancer twice. As the anchor of her family, she loved and cared for each of them selflessly. Mrs. Phillips has been a lifelong follower of Christ. Ms. Loretta was a tireless worker in the Kingdom of God, teaching classes and ministering to others in need. She loved the Centerpoint Church and her church family. She took great pleasure in her family, her sisters, and her nieces and nephews.
Loretta is preceded in death by her parents, E.C. Hammons and Flora Cross, and her sister Violet Carol Reece. She is survived by her husband, Ray Phillips, daughter Carmon Beth Slatton and her husband David Slatton, grandson Patrick Riley and his wife Sarah Riley, Sisters Evelyn Guinn, Gail Hand and husband Harvey, Kathy Strickland, Cynthia Matchett her husband Jerry and many nieces and nephews.
