Martha Jenkins, born October 2, 1937 in Titus County, Texas to C.M and Blanche Phillips and went home to meet her Lord and Savior on September 12, 2021 in Mesquite, Texas at the age of 83. Martha was raised in Mt. Pleasant, Texas and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1955. She married Dwain Jenkins in 1959 and they had 2 children. She was a secretary at Casa View Baptist Church for almost 30 years. In her spare time she enjoyed serving her community through her church, traveling with friends and playing games like Chicken Foot, Mexican Train, 42 and her Bunko group. She just loved to entertain her friends and family and was such a joy to be with.
Her family and friends will always remember her as a caring and compassionate friend who always called or sent a cards on birthdays and special occasions or just to check in on people because she really cared about them.
Martha is preceded in death by her husband Dwain Jenkins; parents C.M. and Blanche Phillips; siblings Bill Phillips, Naomi Williams, Doyce Phillips, Sue Thames and Bettie Hill ; daughter-in-law Melissa Jenkins, mother-in-law Ella Jenkins and brother-in-law Charles Jenkins. She is survived by her sons Kevin Jenkins and Barry Jenkins and wife Shelly; grandchildren Haley, Hannah and Benjamin Jenkins; sister-in-laws Margie Jenkins and Rose Ann Phillips; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends including her church family at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church. Martha has left a legacy of good works and many friends and family that will miss her deeply. She set the example of a Godly wife, mother and friend as a reflection of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A visitation for Martha will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, 9810 La Prada Dr, Dallas, TX 75228. A funeral service will occur Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 9810 La Prada Dr., Dallas, TX 75228. A committal service will occur Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Nevills Chapel Cemetery, 113 CR 3210, Mt. Pleasant, TX 75455.
