Born October 16th, 1928, gained her wings February 25th, 2026.
On Wednesday, February 25th God welcomed home one of his angels.
Mary Evelyn was the 11th of 13 children born to Ella Mae and Walter Campbell, eight sons and five daughters. She grew up in Clay County in a small town called Blue Grove Texas, a small farming community with less than 200 residents.
Mary Evelyn married the love of her life, Herman DeRoyce Wright on July 12th, 1947.
She is survived by many who absolutely loved and adored her.
Her sons: Herman Keith Wright, Randy Wright, and Joseph Wright Sr & wife Twila Grandchildren: Stephanie & Jimmy Howard, Brian & Brandy Wright, Jackie Wright, Jennifer & Brian Dickson, Joseph Wright Jr & Katie, Lindsey & Mike Engelkes and Chad & Hannah Wright, Mary Lowery.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and is also survived by many great grands and great great grandchildren.
Mary Evelyn and Herman were devout Christians who had a huge presence at New Life Fellowship church. They loved making music together and helping their community. She also assisted with the day-to-day operations of the churches thrift store where on many occasions she would donate clothes to those in need, locally and globally.
Mary Evelyn was a true light in this world that anyone who was blessed by her presence truly feels the loss of light that she emitted. She was the closest to a perfect human being that one could achieve. From loving her family to supporting her community, she truly was a blessing.
Mary Evelyn was a special person; one you only come across very rarely in life. She didn't leave behind sadness, only a grateful feeling of being a part of her life and love. She will be sorely missed however, we can rejoice knowing she is reunited with her Herman making music in heaven.
Corinthians 13:13: "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." Mary Evelyn was a true representation of the love of God and teachings of Jesus Christ. She will be missed dearly. One can only hope to be a fraction of the good person that she was.
We love you Memaw, thank you for being you.
