Minnie Lou Bailey

Passed away on May 24, 2016. Minnie was born on December 15, 1924 to Jessie and Bedie Mae in Cumby, Texas. She enjoyed reading and when she was unable to read she listened to books on tape, as many as she could. She worked most of her life as a seamstress. Her favorite movies were “Gone With The Wind and The Ten Commandments.” Minnie enjoyed cooking for her family. Her specialty was Pie and she was honored to make pie for her granddaughters wedding instead of having cake. She was a feisty and sassy lady, but was happiest with her family and doing things for her family. Minnie is survived by her daughter, Sarah Smith and husband Patrick; son, Kenneth Bailey and wife Sandra; grandson, Zack Watson and wife Holly; granddaughters, Mellisa Brooks and husband Adam, Wendy Bailey, Tiffany Welborn, Lisa Gates and husband Duke, Alisha Arshan and husband Heath, and Erica Coates and husband Nathan; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. She is preceded by her parents; sister, Lilian Priest; brothers, Berman Anderson, and JB Anderson; and husband of 46 years, Bill Bailey. Visitation for Minnie will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Gonzalez Funeral Home and Crematory. Services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 1pm in the Chapel of Gonzalez. Interment will follow the services at Grove Hill Memorial Park. A reception will be held after the interment at Gonzalez in the reception room. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dementia and/or Alzheimer’s research.
