Noé “Mike” Miguel Quijano, age 67, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away Sunday, September 7 at home with his wife by his side.
Mike was born on June 19, 1958 in San Salvador, El Salvador, the son of Ana and Noé Perdomo. Mike moved to California and then Texas with his siblings and later lived in Florida with his wife and children. He became a US citizen in 1990.
Mike is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy Elena, and his children: daughter Marisa and husband David, daughter Alysia and husband Kyle, and son Gabriel as well as his grandchildren, Alaina “Miss America” and Kyler “Captain America.”
He will be forever missed by his brothers, Mario and James, sisters, Yanira and Maria, and mother-in-law, Mary “Oma.”
He loved and supported all of his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends spread throughout California, Texas, and Florida.
He joined the US Army in 1977 and served in the 101st Airborne, Big Red 1, and 1st Cavalry until he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1983.
He worked for the US Post Office for 38 years where he started as a mechanic and worked his way up to fleet manager.
Mike enjoyed playing and watching soccer, cooking, fishing at the beach, and music–especially the Beatles.
He spent his life in loving service to others through volunteer coaching and active support of his loved ones and anyone in need. He felt his life was blessed by God and never let a day go by without praying for family and friends. All who knew him know that he lived a life of humble kindness and tireless love.
There will be a celebration of life in Garland, TX on November 29, 2025 and another is planned for June 20, 2026 in Orlando, FL. Details to be shared soon.
